1988-S Olympic Silver Dollar Proof

The obverse design of the silver dollar is a rendition of the San Francisco Old Mint, originally prepared for the San Francisco Mint Medal by Sherl J. Winter.

Struck to commemorate the Olympic Summer Games in Korea, this 1988-S Silver Dollar Proof shows two hands, one holding the Statue of Liberty's torch, the other holding the Olympic Torch.

It's a one-year-only issue and only 1.3 million were struck in 26.73 grams of 90% silver.

As interest in Olympic Games commemoratives continues to grow, this special Silver Dollar commemorative gets harder to find every year.
